| The Process for recruit/exempt application is as folllows: |

| 1) | Submit an Application Questionnaire and a Lifestyle Integrity Questionnaire - with a written cover letter. The questionnaires will be made available when there is a position opening. Once received, one of the following will occur: | |||

the candidate will receive a letter indicating that they are not competitive at this time; or |

| • | the candidate will be asked to participate further in the hiring process. | |||
| 2) | Review of Application Package - by an NCO in Staff Development. | |||

Language Proficiency Index Examination - This exam is administered at Universities and Colleges throughout B.C. For more information on the exam, dates and locations where it is administered please refer to the Paragon Testing website. We strongly encourage candidates to obtain the study material. A Level 4 is required to continue in our process. THIS DOES NOT APPLY TO EXEMPT CANDIDATES |

Physical Testing - P.O.P.A.T (Police Officer's Physical Ability Test) and Lifestyle Evaluation. The P.O.P.A.T. is a demanding, anaerobic physical test which must be completed in under 4 minutes and 15 seconds. POPAT course layout. |

Screening Interview - with a Staff Development Officer. This interview is based on the Lifestyle Integrity Questionnaire and focuses on integrity, life experience and general suitability. |

| 6) |
Assessment Centre - at B.C. Police Academy in New Westminster (at applicant's expense). This is a day of role-playing exercises and it is not necessary to have police related experience. Police officers who are trained assessors participate in the role playing and record and assess the candidates. THIS DOES NOT APPLY TO EXEMPT CANDIDATES |

Panel Interview - with Staff Development Officer(s) and Non-Commissioned Officer(s). This interview is based on life skills and abilities of the candidate and is a behavioral based interview. |

Polygraph - This is a continuation of the Lifestyle Integrity Questionnaire. It is administered by a trained, professional qualified in the use of a polygraph. |

| 9) | Trimetrix Testing - Applicants are required to complete an online questionnaire identified by Central Saanich Police Service. | |||
| 10) | Chief's Interview - with the Chief Constable or his designate. | |||

Occupational Health Assessment - Successful completion of the health assessment and background investigation will lead to an offer of employment * |

Background Investigation - An extensive background investigation is conducted with regards to references submitted and others. A police officer from the Human Resources Division contacts friends, family members, past and present employers and neighbours, and validates the candidates resume. Successful completion of the background investigation and health assessment will lead to an offer of employment. * |

| 13) | Offer of Employment * Offer of employment is based on successful completion of BOTH a background investigation and a medical examination. |

EXEMPT CANDIDATE APPLICANTS NOTE: after application to the Service, and prior to proceeding further into the hiring process, exempt applicants are required to pass the BC Provincial Exempt Exam. The exam is two hours in length, multiple choice in nature and straightforward, with little emphasis on memorization. The Police Service will supply a Recruit Training Manual to the candidate for the purpose of studying for the written Provincial Exemption Exam. The candidate must have the study material for a minimum of six weeks before the exemption exam is written.
