What is the Central Saanich Police Anti-Graffiti program?

A community based crime reduction program aimed at eradicating graffiti in our neighbourhoods.  Central Saanich Police Service is partnered with an  Anti Graffiti volunteer in efforts to reduce graffiti through  several avenues of prevention and removal.  We are also partnered with two community businesses; Waste Management and Home Hardware.

How does the Anti Graffiti Program Work?

The Central Saanich Police Anti Graffiti Volunteer will be meeting with victims of graffiti at their place of business or home and  providing the following items to them:

»

Graffiti Removal Kits to assist in removing the tags. The Anti Graffiti volunteer will be lending these kits out to all victims of graffiti.  Each kit is complete with removal product, safety equipment and instructions on how to remove the graffiti. The Anti Graffiti volunteer will also be able to educate the victims as to the best way to remove the tags. Waste Management Canada has funded these kits.

40% off coupons for exterior paint.  These coupons are provided by  Home Hardware in Saanichton and they will also assist in colour matching the paint to the affected area.

The Anti -Graffiti Volunteer will also be working with police compiling digital images of the graffiti to assist in the identification of the taggers.

How quickly should the graffiti be removed?

Graffiti must be removed or painted over quickly to vastly reduce the reoccurrence of the tags.  Taggers seek out other taggers work so the quicker it is removed the less chance of reoccurrence.
