Introducing our New Deputy Police Chief, Les Sylven

The new Deputy Chief for Central Saanich, Les Sylven, brings over 23 years of operational policing and leadership experience. One third of his career was spent as an R.C.M.P. officer in various capacities in the lower mainland, however, the majority of his career has been spent as a police officer in Victoria and Esquimalt.

Prior to his position as the Deputy Chief, Les Sylven was the Inspector in Charge of Human Resources with the Victoria Police Department. Some of the highlights in his career have included Major Crime Investigations, Critical Incident Command, Emergency Response Team, Media Relations, Human Resources and Youth and School Liaison Programs.

Les has recently completed his Masters Degree in Leadership Studies at Royal Roads University. In addition to his policing career, Les is a lifelong Judo practitioner, volunteer with youth in sport and is a married father with two children.

We welcome Deputy Chief Sylven to the Central Saanich Police Service.
