Criminal Record Checks and Fingerprinting

Central Saanich Police Service will only process criminal record checks for those working or volunteering in the vulnerable sector.  

We are happy to offer an online option to complete these checks!  To complete your application and receive the results online, use the following link:

Applying in person:

Our front counter is open Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm for Central Saanich residents to complete criminal record check applications. Please note that fingerprints for the purpose of criminal record checks will ONLY be completed Wednesdays between 11am and 2pm and with an appointment. Masks are mandatory.  More details about fingerprinting below.

If you are looking to have a criminal record check completed for a person in the non-vulnerable sector, please contact our partner agency The Commissionaires.  You may also complete the non-vulnerable sector check online:  https://commissionairesviy.ca/recordchecks.

ADULTS:

To receive a criminal record check you must: 

  • Be a resident of Central Saanich and not reside on the land of the Tsartlip or Tsawout nations.
  • Display two pieces of identification - with at least one having a photo and proof of a Central Saanich address.
  • Pay $70 (cash or debit only at this time) if the criminal record check is for employment purposes.
  • If the criminal record check is for volunteer purposes there is no fee. However, you must provide a letter from the organization you are volunteering with that includes an original signature from a member of the organization.   Your name must also be included in the letter as proof that you are volunteering with the organization.

Please note:  The application requires two to three weeks to be processed. CSPS  DOES NOT notify applicants when ready for pick up. 

FINGERPRINTING:

To obtain fingerprints for immigration, adoption, citizenship, foreign travel, visas, US waivers, legal name changes, pardon applications, security applications, or other, please contact the Commissionaires.

You do not require fingerprints for a Criminal Record Check UNLESS you are flagged within our database.  If you have been fingerprinted in the past for any criminal activity, your Criminal Record Check may be delayed in processing. 

If you require fingerprinting, we will contact you for an appointment.  Masks are mandatory. 

YOUTH:

Youth applicants will require a government issued ID, such as a BC Identification Card or a passport - as well as a second piece of ID. To apply for a BC Identification Card, youths can visit the Driver Services branch in Sidney which is located at 9884 Third St, in the Court House building behind the Town Hall and Beacon Community Services.
