The Central Saanich Police Board is a statutory body created under the BC Police Act. The Board provides independent civilian oversight and governance and is the employer of the Central Saanich Police Department. Our Board is a progressive and community-minded group that strives to maintain a bias-free and approachable Service to ensure the needs of the community are continually being met and exceeded.
Police Board meetings
Board meetings are open to the public and are held in the District of Central Saanich Council Chambers on the second Thursday of each month (excluding July and August). Meetings begin at 4:30 p.m. Please join us - we value your input! Agendas and Minutes are available online.

Appointments
As mandated by the BC Police Act, the Board consists of one member recommended by municipal council and up to seven members of the community. All members, except the Chair, are appointed by the Lieutenant Governor in Council. Board members are chosen to reflect the diversity of the community.
The role of the Board
The role of the Police Board is to provide general oversight on governance, budgetary control and policy direction for the Service. Board members act in the best interest of the community and are independent from the police department and the municipal government. In addition, the Police Board is the employer of the Chief Constable, and the sworn and civilian members of the Service. Please see our Governance Manual for more information.
Terms
Board members are appointed for varying terms and may only serve a maximum of six years.
