UPDATE: Central Saanich Police Locate and Arrest Fraud Suspect Charrybelle TALAUE in the U.S.

The Central Saanich Police Service (CSPS) has provided an update on its investigation into Charrybelle TALAUE, who was charged in 2024 with multiple counts of fraud, forgery, and personation after allegedly misrepresenting herself as a registered nurse. The offences are believed to have begun in December 2023 and occurred across the Capital Regional District.

As the investigation unfolded, CSPS detectives extended their efforts into Alberta. Collaboration with law enforcement there resulted in additional charges laid against TALAUE in that province.

While awaiting trial, TALAUE fled the jurisdiction, prompting the issuance of arrest warrants. She was subsequently located in Idaho, U.S., by CSPS investigators. With the cooperation of U.S. partners, the RCMP, and officials from the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) in Osoyoos, TALAUE was taken into custody with the assistance of the U.S. Secret Service and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). She has since been returned to Canada.

Deputy Chief Kevin Hackett of the Central Saanich Police Service said “I want to acknowledge the diligence of the investigative team and express my appreciation for the inter-agency cooperation that led to the arrest”.

TALAUE is currently in custody and is scheduled to appear in court in Victoria on May 12 to face the outstanding charges.
